Just got back late last night from an amazing four days and three nights in my sister city to the south, Portland. Strip clubs, chicken satay, and much sexy shenanigans with pretty people in shiny clothing. It was fabulous and full of great stroke worthy stories but I've got a not so little something to blog about first.

Most of us Washingtonians have recently received our ballots for the November 3rd election in the mail.

As anyone who knows me, or even just follows my blog is aware, I have strong opinions when it comes to politics. I'm a local northwest girl and do actually give a shit about the state that has been my home for over thirty years. And like most long term relationships my feelings have often been torn. There has been disappointment as well as moments of intense pride.

I'm writing today in the hopes that I can experience a bounty of the later emotion and little of the former. Though this ballot will decide many things, things I care dearly about, there is one specific issue that hits closer to home then the others.

This is my girlfriend:

She is one of many people I know for whom love of their own gender has extended to the bedroom, and beyond, but certainly has exceeded the limits of just friendship. I love my girlfriend very much as she does me.

Now I'm the first to say that, in the past, marriage hasn't held much interest for me. Spending great big gobs of money to walk down the aisle dressed like a merringue in an unflattering(and unrealistic) color sounds a lot like some elaborate punishment plot and is not something I'm been dreaming of since I was a little girl. I was too busy creating rape and bondage scenes for my barbie dolls.

But for the first time in my life I find myself questioning whether I'm not thinking about marriage because it isn't what I want...

or whether I'm not thinking about it because, as the law stands, I can't have it if I were to want it.

Approving Referendum 71, while not sanctioning the word "marriage" does tell me the my fellow Washington residents, the folks who worked with my dad and now my brother at Boeing, the ladies my mom used to sell tupperware to, the parents of(and now probably the kids) I used to babysit for, the teachers who educated me K through college and the kids who shared those classes with me, the mechanic who fixes my car, the checker at my local grocery store, the person who stops so I can cross the street, my neighbors, my friends, my family believe that my love for this amazing young woman is just as valid as the love they have for others in their lives. And if I were to come before them and say "This is the person I choose to share my life with" more then a friend, more then a lover, a partner, they could see and honor the value of that union not just to the two of us but to our community.

By making demons of what we view as "other" we only make devils of ourselves. It is that hatred and fear that will create the hell on earth that opponents of Ref 71 threaten us with. Love should not be legislated against. It should be rewarded and encouraged. And every time we the people step up and confront hate, fear and the small-minded, short sighted-ness that would make us blind to the humanity in those around us we are one step closer to being the kind of world where happiness really is our default position.

And heres the deal. If you're reading this blog, you're probably kinky. It's okay, I clearly like kinky people. Kinky kicks ass! But the same folks throwing money at rejecting Ref 71 would absolutely love to pass some laws saying the way you like to experience love and pleasure should be illegal. Don't believe me? Check into some of the haters rhetoric about the dangers of homosexuals. Boy do they love to talk about sodomy, a consensual sex act that used to be illegal here in Washington. If you are a male and like strap-on sex you are just as much a target for these people as me and my girlfriend. They just haven't come for you yet.

Expanding civil liberties to protect the minority also benefits the majority by contributing to a more open, accepting, and empathetic society. You do not have to be gay, or have gay friends or a gay aunt or uncle or grandma to have a good reason to approve Referendum 71. If you understand that love takes many forms and you want to live in a world where people and their adult choices are honored, you have your reason.

Besides, when we aren't so busy working for our basic civil rights we'll have more time to stand and fight right next to you if they try to come for your butt plugs.

Make an appointment with me before November 3rd, bring your ballot with Approve Ref 71 checked and expect me to be extra generous with my time.

And lastly, I'm more then happy to debate this with any of my pals on here but if I find out you didn't even vote...you may need to remind me why I call you a friend at all.

The week in review

Sitting here, enjoying the sunshine and posting about pervy things. Life is good.

Quick rundown of all the fun stuff from last week.

Things got off to a very inspiring start on Monday as I reconnected with a playmate who I hadn't seen in many many months. He's kept me updated on all the wonderful, though very difficult, personal work he's been doing, through email, and we've had a couple of hang-outs. More on this to come as the CSPC will be hosting a huge Steampunk Ball, December 5th at the Museum of History and Industry in Seattle. As often happens with the approach of Fall my life seems to be bursting lately with fun opportunities and fabulous people.

You know how you have those things that you're interested in...but the timing never seems to work out. Or you've got a great idea and lack the motivation or man power to make it happen. Two big things that I've been middling too seriously interested in adding to my world have been doing double domination sessions and expanding my media foot print on the web and else where.

What has mostly held me back has been the same thing in both cases. I hadn't yet met the right people to inspire me to chart new territory.

I've been so very happy with my work, as it stands, for years now. But since the universe has seen fit to gift me with a few truly inspiring new friends I've decided that it's time to shake things up a bit.

As mentioned in my last post I've updated the FAQ page of my site to reflect some new offerings. I am now available for sessions with my girlfriend, Miss Scarlet, as well as with my lover, Servant aka The Major. Additionally, though I'm not sure as of yet how well received it will be, I'm offering "just talk" sessions.

The former, again something that lacked some peeps with the right energy and skill set to make worth while. Half the fun of playing with those two will just be getting an excuse to have more sexy time with them. Goddess help the brave souls that walk into that energy storm.

The latter is something that I've been meaning to do for awhile. As most folks who have seen me know, I like to spend a good deal of time before any play begins, talking with my clients. How and when did they first know they were kinky? How long have they been exploring? Have they ever talked with their primary partners about their kinks? If so, did it go well? If not, would they like some suggestions on how to do so as well as some insight into why it'd be worth the risk? There's something about the setting and circumstance that gets people to share things they very well may have never told another soul. Even some experienced players have never had anyone ask for their back story before. In addition to adding wonderful depth to the play that usually follows, I have seen these conversations address deeply held insecurities and fears. I have seen them inspire people to fight for the type of out-in-the-open lives they've fantasized about for years.

So maybe these bits of unexpected therapy can only occur as they stand, a surprising bonus to a sexy good time. But knowing how hard it is for folks to brooch these topics, even with a licensed therapist or a loving partner, I think the world has room for this type of judgement-free service. And, as I state in the offerings description, "I may not have all the answers...but I certainly have a unique perspective".

As to the other new endeavor, endeavors actually, they are about 50% "why the hell not" and 50% "we may not save the world but we can certainly have some fun trying". So upcoming, and hopefully entertaining, activities will include: a beautifully blasphemous photo shoot with me and Miss Scarlet as a couple of very naughty nuns; some educational, erotic and hopelessly irreverent video shoots of me doing some BDSM how-tos and product testing with Servant as my co-host and hapless victim; and more naughty MP3 files then you can shake a dick at(though I encourage you to try).

Its not that I don't love you..it's just I've been having so much fun this summer that I have a hard time sitting down and posting about it. It's sort of like poetry, you only ever seem motivated to do it when you're you've got nothing else to do. I'm far from lacking in things to do. The sun is out and summer is still very much in gear, but I've been feeling guilty about my neglect...as well as getting some not so subtle nudges from folks that miss hearing about my adventures.

So ya wanna know some of what I've been up to for the last couple of months? Here ya go:

July, in addition to being ridiculously hot (and making me ever so grateful that I have air conditioning) was also my birthday month. And as I think Cancers, my own natal sign, are so awesome it should come as little surprise that I know a number of other folks with June/July bdays. Even though I celebrated my own birth date with dinner with a couple of pals at one of my favorite local restaurants, I also hosted a big blow out party for myself and a few other moon children the weekend following my special day. The theme, because I do love me the costume party was water. Guests were advised to dress in whatever outfit said element inspired them to. We had a plumber, pirates, mermaids, a jellyfish, lots of blue outfits(including my own), a very sassy sailor suit, and many other creative ensembles. A good time was had by all, including a bit of public sex play. I was not involved beyond being a very entertained voyeur. Speaking of folks branching out in new directions, I did a last minute volunteer stint at a local event called the Kinky Carnival. As I was there to lend a hand where ever I was needed day of, I ended up pulling some of my skills from my long ago professional past and being a barker for the event's raffle. Aside from the clear success of our booth I was immensely proud of my city that so many folks showed up to try out some new things at the numerous sensation based booths, charming titled things like submit, spank, snuggle, whip, wet, fire and flog among others. The event was staffed by skilled and engage-able volunteers and the overwhelming vibe was one of playfulness and exploration. The event was held at the Center for Sex Positive Culture and all proceeds from the party were ear marked for the National Coalition of Sexual Freedom, a fabulous organization fighting to insure the government stays out of your bedroom and off your sexy bits. I certainly plan on joining the fun again next year and promise to give ya'll plenty of notice so those that want to see for themselves can add it to your own busy summer schedule. Also involving the Center, I'm working with a team right now on a new monthly party to be held there. The Center has recently expanded and taken basically full control of the collection of buildings they've occupied for the last glorious 10 years(they just celebrated their anniversary this June). As a result they've had room for even more parties so now, not only are there fun kinky things to do there seven days a week, most nights you'll have 3 events to choose from, many with joint cover options, so you can party hop. The event is called The Chateau and will be a high protocol, fancy dress/dress-code enforced party with fine-dinning(though the first one will only involve hors d'oeuvres) service stations like boot blacking and grooming/pampering and places to play. Though most of the parties at the Center are very open to D/s dynamics, the general vibe is more casual and social so it can be hard to maintain a high protocol interaction when not everyone knows to not try and chat up the kneeling chick wearing the collar.

I was motivated to this movement by all the fun I've had at the monthly Fem Domme Teas as well as what I'd wished was done a bit different. I wanted something like it, but fully co-ed. I and others expressed a wish that there were an easy way for the submissive's to communicate(without breaking out of role)what their interests were as far as service, play and possible interaction outside of the event. It's looking like I might be the resident match maker and just keep a clip board of everyone's preferences.

I'll be meeting with my co-hosts tomorrow to hammer out more of the details and figure out promotional material but we've been given the green light by the powers that be. I'll keep ya'll posted with more info as we know it. Our first party will be in October, probably in the early part of the month. Following up on the fun I had working the Center for Sex Positive Culture's booth at SEAF this year I've volunteered to for our booth at Pride this year. I have no idea what time I'll be working it(which I'm a bit cranky about) but I'm fairly sure it will be some time after 1pm. Extra bonus is that my girl will be pimpin the Center with me...that is when we aren't make-in out. And I'm pretty sure we won't be the only lascivious hotties hangin out there.

It should be an amazing Parade and post Parade festival this year as the gay community has really leapt forward in its fight for civil rights. Who'd have thought they we'd have come this far even as little as 8 years ago. That being said...we should be a lot farther. With recent bitch slaps from an administration we fought so hard for I think its safe to say that in the midst of our flamboyant celebrations this Sunday there will be an equally strong call to arms.

Few things I wanted to put out there but first I wanted to give all my playmates a heads up that I still have time available this weekend. I just finished reading the Gift of Fear while I was up at Hyak last week(I know, strange choice for a relaxing weekend) and all of Mr De Becker's pointers on how to spot someone truly dangerous are easily applied to the submittals on PLFM. Ladies, we know that most of the men that have come in and out of our lives are basically good guys. Reading this blog will only highlight that fact in a "you thought your break-up was bad" kinda way. But it sure as hell doesn't hurt to see a few more examples of why being crystal clear in our rejections is so important. And any of the reliable lender lads and ladies in my posse who would like to borrow my copy of the Gift of Fear drop me an email. It's a very worth while read.

I'd read and enjoyed the series this show is based on but damn, I don't know if there's a single thing I'd change...actually I take that back, the fangs are a bit weird/silly. They're placed more forward then usual...and make a ridiculous clicking noise every time they drop into place. Anyhoo, its wonderful southern style trashy n' tasty goodness. So if you're in the market some highly addictive brain candy, the first season is out on DVD right now.

It's a nice bit of uplift after a few of the civil liberty bomb drops of the past week or so, from unnecessarily heavy-handed recent raids on a number of much beloved local massage parlors to the California Supreme's unsurprising, though very disappointing, Prop 8 decision. Some how recent victories in the areas of civil rights make the lost battles all that much more depressing. Damn my civic optomisim...I keep thinking we're evolving as a society and then someone comes along and takes a big poo in my front yard.

In other uplifting news the much anticipated advent of warm weather has had its usual affect on my social calendar. Lots of fun adventures planned that involve gettin the hell outta Dodge for a few days. Last weekend I slipped away to Hyak with a few pals to see the last of the snow and spend much goofy time around the fireplace. On the way back down the mountain I spent a very spiritually grounding afternoon frolicking beside a river. I've already made plans to drag my girl up there with me next time so she can enjoy the beauty of nature too...and I can enjoy her immensely beautiful nakid bod if I can talk her into posing for a bit of a photo shoot.

Other outward bound upcoming activities include a trip up to the Gulf Islands with a bunch of pals, plenty of yet un-named camping, as well as woodsy day, trips, all leading up to my first year attending Paradise Unbound, the CSPC week long outdoor event in the kinky wilds of Redmond/Fall City.

I love the fact that as down-home and mundane sounding as some of my travel plans may seem on the surface, my group of companions pretty much guarantees that at some point(and possibly many) someone is going to get spanked and/or tied up. Who could have foreseen that my good little Girl Scout fire building skills would one day illuminate such acts of perversion.

Time for a Great Big Update for April just in time to count down that last few days of it. Extra special bonus incentive(though you really shouldn't need one...seriously this thing rocks) is that I won't just be in attendance for you to see, possibly hang out with or stalk(depending on how well I know ya), I'll be volunteering and pretty easy to find both at the special VIP party Thursday evening and the big last night hurrah on Saturday.

Unless you just joined us, you've all heard me pimp out the Center for Sex Positive Culture and its numerous, wonderful events, workshops and parties MANY times. Even in person, I like to remind local folks that they do have a great and accessible community organization the likes of which no other city can claim. There's really no need for a kinky person to have to stumble around in the dark by themselves in this town...not when its so much more fun to do it with other kinky folks. So following along with that agenda, I'll be manning the Center's "exhibit" at SEAF and chatting up the event's attendees, answering questions, and hopefully once again putting a friendly face to an organization, and ideology, that many may still find threatening. Surely with some of the meant-to-disturb art offerings on display little bitty me and my vision of a sex positive world will be a welcome safe haven for any scared bunnies who accidentally show up.

I've been informed that the CSPC exhibit will be toward the back to one side of the stage, between the scent memory exhibit and the commemorative(and fund-raising) photo booth. There's supposed to be a banner. I'll hopefully be on the busy side, and not really able to spend hours chatting with pals, but do come over and say hi whether you know me yet or not.

I will also be attending Friday evening, and that's my night to drunkenly schmooze and enjoy the art. Though I will be much harder to find given my height, the sheer number of people that are sure to be there, and the fact that I'll be on the move.
